English National Opera: ‘Angel’s Bone’ Key Art

Brand new work today, and what’s this! It’s the key art for English National Opera (@englishnationalopera)’s latest show ‘Angel’s Bone’, which is debuting right here in Manchester in May!

This will be the UK premiere of the show, which is a Pulitzer prize-winning opera, composed by Du Yun and librettist Royce Vavrek, and is going to be performed at Factory (@factory_international) from the 12th - 16th May this year (2026).

This set up was relatively straightforward - so, you have your key light (a Profoto (@Profoto) head stuffed inside a 4’ Octa) directly above your fantastic model Natasha (@natashalillytrigg). This really brings out the muscle tone, and gives some contrast without it being overpowering. Then you have a XL umbrella camera left for fill, and finally, a gel’d bare bulb head out front, blasting the whole thing with of teal/dark blue-type colour. Easy! The post production (so all that glitching effect) was done by the amazing team at EDIT, and I think it looks just fabulous.

Huge thanks to the amazing team at EDIT STUDIO for the commission - Khadija, Karen, Adele, Sarah, Archie and everyone in the office, as well as the team at ENO (Hebe! Anthony! Karen! Gehna!), my fab assistant Naomi Kane (@itsnaomikane), and finally the team at Five Four Studios for making us feel so welcome.
