Glencoe on film - September ‘24
In September this year, I ran a half marathon up in Glencoe — The Gathering, it’s called, and I would highly recommend it if you hate yourself. I didn’t go there to take photos, but I couldn’t not bring the XPan.
There are few places on earth as beautiful, or as humbling, as Three Sisters at Glencoe. The scale of the place. The silence. It felt bigger than landscape — something spiritual even. I’m not religious per se, but being there… I don’t know. I felt connected to something bigger than me. I also shot the Profoto A2 Campaign there a few years ago!
I shot two rolls of Portra 400 while I was there — just a few frames the day before and day after the run. I didn’t plan to, but as I was dirivng I was reminded of the words of Alfred Eisenstaedt, one of my favourite photographers. When asked if he had any advice for young budding photographers, he simple said this - “Stop the car”.
