BBC Two & Expectation Factual: EMERGENCY 24/7 Key Art
Brand new work today - the KEY ART for the brand new series ‘Emergency 24/7’, which premiers TONIGHT at 9pm on BBC ONE, and the will soon be available on iPlayer (@bbciplayer).
.
Produced by Expectation Factual (@expectation_tv), the creators behind the hit series Murder 24/7 (for which I also shot the Key Art!), this hard-hitting documentary series embeds cameras directly inside the bustling Emergency Department of Southmead Hospital— a major trauma centre just outside Bristol. The show provides an honest, fast-paced, and emotional look at the extreme daily pressures and complex teamwork required to save lives on the NHS frontline.
For the Key Art that you see here, we set up in a small meeting room in the hospital, and over the course of the day worked with around a dozen people, from hand surgeons to security guards. You can see the BTS video if you swipe through, and when you do, you’ll see that the staff are lit with a Profoto (@Profoto) B10X inside a 3ft Octa, camera left (that’s the key light). Then we have some fill with a B10 inside a medium umbrella with the diffusion on the front. Then finally, we have a bare bulb B10 over my shoulder to give those beautiful catch lights in the eyes. All shot on a grey colorama, with the amazing BBC Creative (@bbccreative) team doing the post production. Wonderful!
Huge thanks to Leo, Jess, & Kitty for the on-the-day support, it was truly invaluable. As well, huge thanks to Rachael & Colin, and the rest of the team at Expectation, as well as the amazing Kate at BBC Creative.
